What do you mean by "dismiss Download Manager"? I think we should leave the UI where the user left it before clicking on "Open In ...".

By "dismiss Download Manager" I mean hide download manager bar from the screen. Mardini, do you think it's should be user's responsibility to always tap on Close button to hide the UI they no longer need?

No. I don't think it should be the user's responsibility but I think I have to turn on a flag to see the new UI? I'm using canary.

The new UI is on by default in Canary and dev.

Apologies, I guess either I am not seeing the problem or I am doing something wrong. I defer to you and ghendel to decide on the best course of action.

Gabe, Khalil. Do you think we should dismiss Download UI after the user tapped Open In... ? Or we should never dismiss Download UI automatically and the user should always close it manually?

I don't have a strong preference here. It seems fine to keep the download manager bar around. This is consistent with desktop Chrome UI. Maybe remove the download manager the next time the app cold-starts?

Desktop actually automatically dismissed download UI after the user opens the last download. In Chrome for iOS download UI does not persist after app is relaunched.

Looks like the intended behavior on desktop is not to dismiss Download UI. I've seen the automatic dismissal, which probably was a bug.

I don't think the automatic dismissal is a bug, it's been around since the beginning of the app. You might want to talk to sdy@ who recently overhauled the download bar on Mac as he is probably more familiar with the code and what it's supposed to be doing.

No one thinks it is an issue. |
