Not sure why this caused reading the file to be slightly slower, but it seems to have made the overall benchmark (including writing to the files) faster (i.e. https://chromeperf.appspot.com/report?sid=068012978cf5c04b91aa2e92eaa94228de61ac963d2e6e2122db236708e317b1&rev=545877), so closing this bug as wontfix, since there isn't really anything to do here.
