Looks like we'll need to test on Huawai devices to see if we can repro. mlamouri@, are you aware of any media related stuff around dimming? I know that we prevent dimming when showing a video, but I don't know of anything that would cause the screen to dim instead of get brighter.

Chrome versions tested: 65.0.3325.109 & 66.0.3359.46 Devices: Huawei P9 Lite (VNS-L31 / M), P10 (VTR-L29 / N), P8 Lite (ALE-L23 / 5.0.1) Pre-Condition: Set system display time out to 1 minute. 1. Start Chrome. Display sets off at 1 minute and dims 2. Exit Chrome. Display sets off at 1 minute and dims. Results: No issue with Chrome causing screen to dim. Comment 3: Video preventing screen to dim (correct behavior)

tedchoc@, video playback should do a screen wake lock on Android, which technically prevents dimming. Though, looking at the comments, it seems that the issue happens when opening the app. Users seem to see a brightness reduction. Is it possible that the system adjusts the brightness based on the UI colour and the predominance of white?

This sounds like it is a Hauwei issue: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-plus/help/huawei-p10-screen-dimming-bug-apps-t3636615 https://forums.androidcentral.com/honor-8/762568-screen-dimming-automatically.html https://www.reddit.com/r/Huawei/comments/7tng3u/huawei_p10_screen_brightness_bug/ Based on those threads, it seems like this is likely something outside of Chrome's control.
