What keyboard layout do you have configured on your Mac device? I've tried to reproduce this but I can't. Also using keycode is relatively old and doesn't capture all possible scenarios. Have you considered using .key or .code ?

I have tried it with a simple page and disabled the key press but text to speech works just fine. Closing this issue as there was no other reports. But if you happen to see the issue again please leave a comment here or open a new issue with the steps and the sample page to reproduce.
