Furthermore, this is 100% reliable since it started happening a few Chrome versions ago.

Unable to reproduce the issue on Debian , Mac 10.13.3 & windows 7 using chrome reported version-65.0.3325.162 & latest stable- 65.0.3325.181 as per C#0. Able to copy text (selected "Copy" from right-click context menu) , tried with Ctrl+C also successfully & able to paste it in any other doc without any crash. Could you please upgrade chrome to latest stable & check the issue. If still issue persists, please provide us the crash id from chrome://crashes to triage the issue further. Thanks..!

Do you have a crash ID? We had a bug in this area but it should have been fixed.

I don't have a crash ID because Chromium apparently doesn't support that. It seems that this issue might be specific to NixOS 17.09 (multiple people besides me have reported it), so perhaps you can ignore this bug report. If you are interested, you can take a look here for more details: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/37314

As per C#6, issue specific to Linux NixOS 17.09. Adding 'TE-Hardware-Dependency' label as this OS is not available with Google-hyd team. Thanks..!

it appears this was fixed on nixos by switching build to gcc7: details at https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/37314 |
