The bottom address bar was very convenient. Perfectly in reach of your thumb. Now when it’s at the top it’s as remote as it possibly can get. I have to really stretch my thumb to reach it, often nearly dropping the phone in the process. Why was it removed? With phones just getting larger each generation the UI should be adapted accordingly.

It was removed mostly because it confused some users. We're going to try other UIs for Android, some which involve a bottom suggestion strip. They'll look and feel somewhat different than the previous attempt. Hopefully you'll be as happy with them.

I've switched to Yandex Alpha for now. It sports a bottom address bar and even supports extensions.

I've disabled Chrome updates for now and staying on 65 because of this. I have a BlackBerry Priv and with the slider open, the top URL bar is very inconvenient and requires 2 hands to operate whereas the bottom bar I can keep my hands on the keyboard. |
