Positioned absolute child doesn't disappear when parent is set to opacity: 0;

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_2) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.162 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. set parent element to animate to opacity: 0
2. set child to a position of absolute
3. run css animation

What is the expected behavior?
All children of a parent element set to opacity: 0 should not be visible

What went wrong?
Positioned absolute child doesn't disappear when parent is set to opacity: 0;

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? No 

Did this work before? Yes 64

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

The CSS for this page hints that the gws-pagedeck element is supposed to have
opacity:0, but the rule in the style does not apply because the "transparent"
class is not set.

Bug reporter, please clarify if I missed the bug you are trying to report.
