Chrome is not able to play sound when used with a non-Cinnamon window manager |
||
Issue descriptionI'm using gLinux (rodete). When I log in in Cinnamon, sound in Chrome works just fine (YouTube, Spotify). When I use another window manager (called "awesome"), there's no sound. I confirmed with a music player (Rhythmbox) that sound works, also all sound settings (e.g., with Alsamixer) look fine (volume high enough, not muted etc). Still, Chrome is not able to play sound (tried with YouTube and Spotify). I can give you more information if you tell me how :)

That didn't work. Also, the sound icon doesn't appear on the tab strip at all when sound is supposed to be played.

And "sound" is allowed in chrome://settings/content, also checked the site settings for YouTube and sound is allowed there too.

We use PulseAudio by default and Alsa as a fallback. Are both installed or do you only have Alsa?

I had both installed. I uninstalled pulseaudio, and now sound works :P So problem solved for me. |
