The menu opened when my name is clicked in the upper right hand of my chrome window does not close.

Issue description

Chrome Version: (Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)
OS: Linux

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Click your name in the upper right corner of the chrome window.
(2) Click the blank area to the left of my name, outside of the popup.

What is the expected result?
The menu goes away.

What happens instead?
Nothing. This feels like a bug?

I'm fairly sure that's intentional. I vaguely remember overhearing a conversation about intentional dead space in the tab bar.

Yes, the dead space is intentional.  Though I think Linux should probably close the profile window when clicking the tabstrip background (which currently initiates a drag), since that's currently the behavior on other platforms, and on Linux when clicking anywhere else other than the tabstrip background.
