Attached is what is in the log. I opened this as the URL and playback work in "regular" Chome... ...but recently stopped working in Canary, so hoping that something broken in Canary doesn't get promoted to stable Chrome. Thanks.

Looks like the player is MSE based, no errors are showing up. So I'd guess there's some gap in the buffered timeline; +wolenetz. If you open the Developer Tools are there any network errors in the console? Is it just this cam or all cams?

I tried the website and I'm not sure how this is related to autoplay. There are no autoplay errors. Also, the commit is to enable autoplay on M65 so unlikely the issue. Autoplay is disabled by default on M67. viswa.karala@, did you login to reproduce the issue?

Looks like the video is in an iframe and set as <video autoplay muted preload=none>. Preload should have no effect. It's unclear why it never ends up playing but if it 's expecting the autoplay attribute to start the playback, it would explain why there is no autoplay error messages. beccahughes@, can you investigate?

The autoplay is blocked because it is in a iframe missing the allow="autoplay" attribute. Adding the attribute fixes this. Do we have a contact at trains.com we can reach out to?

Ah yes, I have done some more digging and it looks like the RequestAutoplayByAttribute function is never being called. It looks like the reason for this is that the readyState of the HTMLMediaElement is always kHaveNothing and the video is not loaded. The JS also calls play() too but it unmutes the video first so this is blocked without a user gesture. They are using the video.js HLS plugin which uses MediaSource.

I don't think this should be RBS because if the earthcam player is unmuting the video when it creates the element it should be blocked from autoplaying.

To expand on the previous comment, what I think is happening is the following: 1) <video muted> element created 2) video is unmuted with setMuted by earthcam JS 3) media is loaded through media source 4) media is blocked because it is no longer muted There seems to be a bug here on the Chrome side where we are not properly syncing the muted attr with JS ( crbug.com/828046 ) but it is not autoplay related. We should see if we can reach out to earthcam to get them to fix their JS.

So, the version that just got pushed into production: Version 66.0.3359.117 (Official Build) (64-bit) ...broke this site on "mainstream" Chrome. Could we get a fix? Now it doesn't work in Chrome Canary AND now it doesn't work in Chrome Stable.
