Go to a *.localhost domain over https 2. Try to go to the same domain over http 3. Fail miserably What is the expected behavior? For the browser to not mess with my url. I know where I want to go to, stop redirecting me without asking or at least let me disable this in the settings. What went wrong? Chrome rewrote the url to prefix it with https Did this work before? Can you provide a full example of a domain that demonstrates this behaviour? We've had folks report bugs where they say "localhost" but mean "dev" or "local" or the like. Can you confirm that your localhost server is not sending HSTS? We know of some popular local servers that do, in which case, the behaviour is defined if you visit without error.
