Office Editing" - Excel 'open with' Google Sheets opens within Office Editing Ext still

Reported by ken....@pangaea.co.uk, Mar 12 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.146 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install Chrome Extension: Office Editing for Docs, Sheets & Slides
2. Locate a MS Excel, Word or Powerpoint file in Google Drive
3. Right-click and "open with" > Google Sheets/Docs/Slides depending on MS file

What is the expected behavior?
I should expect the MS file to open within Google Docs, Sheets or Slides with the Google formatting features

What went wrong?
The MS files open within the "Office Editing for Docs, Sheets & Slides" extension still when choosing to open with Google Docs, Sheets or Slides

WebStore page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/office-editing-for-docs-s/gbkeegbaiigmenfmjfclcdgdpimamgkj?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon

Did this work before? Yes Last worked in February 2018

Chrome version: 65.0.3325.146 Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version:

the Chrome Extension ID is: gbkeegbaiigmenfmjfclcdgdpimamgkj

This applies to both Docs and Slides also.

We installed this Ext to let users make basic edits to MS files within Google Drive.

We can no longer open MS Files in Google Docs, Sheets or Slides using the "Open with" option when you right-click on the file.
When selecting the Google App, it will still open within the Office Edit App Extension with the limited formatting.

We force applied this Chrome Extension throughout our organisation policy, which is when it started happening and happens to every user.
It worked fine however when installing this Chrome Ext individually when we were testing it in February.

ralphch@, do you know if this is WAI or not? If not, mind triaging?

Seems like this is WAI.
Status: WontFix (was: Assigned)
What is WAI? what does this mean? Will the issue be left like this?
So we can no longer select an MS .docx or .xlsx file and "open with" Google Docs/Sheets?

Comment 12 by ralp...@google.com, Mar 20 2018

Sry, WAI = Working as Intended
Can you uninstall the extension? That should allow you to open with Google Docs.
We can but we need to use and have this extension installed, hence why we released it company-wide for everyone.

Our users interact a lot between MS and Google files, therefore need editing option in both Google Docs and Office Editing system.
