BT headset shows as connected but audio is heard from on-board speakers

Chrome Version: 66.0.3359.21 / 10452.5.0

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1)Connect BT devices and keep using them.

What is the expected result?
The devices should function properly

What happens instead?

The BT headphone got disconnected from the Chromebook, when i re-connect the headphone, it shows as connected but the audio is still heard from the on-board speakers

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

Attached logs and screenshot

Had to reboot the machine to reconnect and use the headphones.

@Sonny, I believe this is the issue we saw also when trying to connect Bob with Android Auto. 

Bob has MVL 8997 chip.
