Unclear how "assignee" field is supposed to be used

I noticed this "assignee" field in Gerrit because someone assigned a CL to me. What's weird is, I'm not present in the reviewers list any more, and responding with comments added me to cc rather than the reviewers list somehow.

How is this field intended to be used? Was there some PSA sent about it?

That field has been around in Gerrit for a *very* long time, so there hasn't been a PSA about it. ChromeOS and Android folks use it regularly, Chromium people generally don't, but there's nothing preventing them from doing so if they feel like it.

I assume that this is the CL you were talking about: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/catapult/+/953863

As you can see in the comments at 10:15, it appears that Erik couldn't make up his mind :P You were added to CC, then assigned, then removed from CC. All of those were manual actions taken by Erik, not things that Gerrit did automatically.

I don't think Gerrit did anything particularly weird here.
