Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.167 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Sign up with username (jeevan.kuchipudi) - Says that it already exists 2. Sign in with username (jeevan.kuchipudi) - Says that it does not exist What is the expected behavior? Either the sign in must be successful or sign up must be successful for that particular username (jeevan.kuchipudi) i.e. there are two options only: 1. Assuming the username is already taken by someone, while trying to sign up, it should say that the username is taken. At the same time, if I try signing in with the same username it should proceed to the password page. 2. Assuming the username is not taken by someone, while trying to sign in, it should show an error saying 'couldn't find your google account'. And when I try signing up with the same username, it should allow me create an account with that username. What went wrong? It's not letting the user to do both sign-up or sign-in with the same username. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 64.0.3282.167 Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.12.6 Flash Version:

Able to reproduce the issue on chrome reported version 64.0.3282.167 using Mac 10.12.6, Windows-10 and Ubuntu 14.04 with steps mentioned below: 1) Launched chrome reported version and tried to signup with the id provided by the reporter(jeevan.kuchipudi@gmail.com), system shows an error like "username is already taken" 2) Tried signing in with the same account(i.e., jeevan.kuchipudi@gmail.com), system shows error like" couldn't find your google account" Observations: 1) Tried testing this issue with other id(for example viswateja.karala@gmail.com), i am able to signup with that id 2) Seen same behaviour in Firefox Could someone from the services>signin team have a look at this issue, hence adding TE-NeedsTriageHelp label. Thanks!

This is not a Chrome bug, but a Google web sign-in bug. I'll thus mark this bug as WontFix for Chrome. I'll see if we can track this internally though.
