Select To Speak keeps speaking after putting focus in other programs on Chromebook |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionGoogle Chrome 67.0.3363.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit) Firmware Version Google_Samus.6300.276.0 For now, go to Chrome://flags > Enable Experimental accessibility features to get the latest version of STS. In the future, this step won't be needed. Note that it's not recommended to have both STS and ChromeVox running at the same time so please be careful to only have one enabled at a time. Steps to repro: # Get STS speaking anything in a tab in the browser # Launch the Text program in Chrome OS # Put focus into the Text program Expected: STS stops speaking Actual: STS continues speaking This behavior of speaking with focus in another program also replicates with ChromeVox but perhaps might not really its own a bug because a ChromeVox user wouldn't be likely to use the mouse to change focus. It's a judgement call from the devs to determine if this is a STS AND ChromeVox bug or just a STS bug.

Related to https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=819934 because it is still speaking even while typing text in another program

This is working as intended because it allows a user to multi-task or keep working while speech is in progress.

Moving from just having STS label to also having the UI>Accessibility>SelectToSpeak component to make searching easier in the future. |
