2D date and time controls UI appears in VR browsing

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) go to http://opensource.perlig.de/tdi/examples/html5form.html
(2) Enter VR Browsing
(3) Expand the "Date and Time controls" section.
(4) Click on one of the controls. (e.g. Month)

What is the expected result? No 2D UI pop-up

What happens instead? 2D UI pop-up. See screenshot.
