Bluetooth connectivity to Pixel 2 failing

Reported by jamesbel...@googlemail.com, Mar 7 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10176.76.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.190 Safari/537.36
Platform: 10176.76.0 (Official Build) stable-channel kip

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open bluetooth options on Chromebook
2. Open bluetooth options on Pixel 2
3. Attempt to connect from one device to the other (either way fails) - accept connection on both devices (PIN is correct)
4. Chromebook reports successful connection
5. A look at either chromebook or Pixel 2 shows no connection
6. On chromebook, open detailed Bluetooth connection options and try to reconnect to Pixel 2 - receive an error: ailed to connect to "Pixel 2".

What is the expected behavior?
Pixel 2 should show as connected to Chromebook

What went wrong?
I have no idea

Did this work before? No

Chrome version: 64.0.3282.190 Channel: n/a
OS Version: 10176.76.0
Flash Version: 28.0.0.161

I used to be able to connect with my previous OnePlus One phone, but have not been able to get this to work with my Pixel 2. I have seen this reported online by others: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/phone-by-google/CgH_v6J5Tj4

The Pixel 2 will not connect (only pair) to the chromebook via bluetooth settings because there are no profiles to connect to.
If you want to use the phone for smart unlock or for magic tethering, please follow the below links --

Unlocking: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6070209
Tethering: Ensure bluetooth on phone and Chromebook is enabled and then go to "Mobile Data" on the chrome://settings page to enable tethering.

Closing as WAI

I don't only want to connect my phone for magic tethering or smart unlock -
I'd like to be able to transfer files from my phone to my Chromebook and
vice versa. This doesn't seem like an unreasonable requirement - especially
as it works with other devices...
