Attached a trace. I removed all mouse and touch event listeners on the next link and it still happens. I also found a more reliable repro. Looks like I have to alt-tab away from the window, then back. Tapping then causes a download on all links on the page. Repro's on other pages too.

This happens to me as well. After running chrome on linux (ubuntu 16.04) for a while, the touch events start triggering either download or a page open in a new tab. This happens when touching anything that changes the url of the open page, including touching a bookmark link from the bookmark bar. Restarting chrome fixes it temporarily.

@bokan: you're totally right: Alt-Tab away makes touching a link to a download. To restore this state, you simple need to press the Alt-Key (alone). Than you are able to navigate again. Testet on: Debian Jessie, OpenBox/xfce4 (happens with both), Chromium 69. My Machine is a Asus T103HAF (Convertible Tablet).
