Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.119 Safari/537.36 Example URL: Steps to reproduce the problem: Please remember the user's "remember me" selection on all websites. Filling in the username and password for the user means all he has to do is click Login... but once a day 365 times a year. If you also remembered he clicked the Remember me box, then instead of 365 times, only one time is needed! I am not asking you to click any Submit buttons for the user, only remember his checkbox selections. Seems much less radical than filling in his username and password which you already do. What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? User has to click Remember Me each time as you forgot what he clicked last time. Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 64.0.3282.119 Channel: n/a OS Version: Flash Version: (In my picture, Remember Me has a different name.)

This sounds like a web site issue or a cookie handling issue, not a Blink issue.

Thanks for filing the issue! Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 64.0.3282.119 and on ther latest stable 65.0.3325.146 using Ubuntu 14.04 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Launched Chrome 2. Navigated to https://twitter.com/login?lang=en 3. Entered the credentials and Checked the Remember me box 4. Logged in then later logged out Tried navigating to the same URL after logging out. We observed the Check box is checked. @Reporter: Could you please check with the above mentioned URL and let us know if the issue still persists. Providing with the URL in which the issue is seen helps us to triage it in a better way.

I didn't test twitter. https://www.cloudflare.com/a/login has the problem.

http://www.ragii.net/portal.php (Chinese website) has the problem, for both the form at the top and middle of the page.

(Logging out of this bugs.chromium.org bugtracker and logging back in does not involve any remember me checkboxes. (Apparently permanently remembering me.) so is not a good test.)

The extremely good news is that some sites are not affected by the bug. E.g., https://bugzilla.gnome.org/

Wait, using incognito mode on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/ shows that checkbox is pre-checked for everybody!

We observe https://twitter.com/login is pre-checked. Indeed unchecking it and refreshing restores its checkmark. So people who might want it to stay unchecked should complain about chromium here. For me "twitter just works" the way I want it.

Able to reproduce the issue on Mac 10.13.3, Win-10 and Ubuntu 17.10 using chrome latest stable #65.0.3325.146 and latest canary #67.0.3366.0. This is a non-regression issue as it is observed from M60 old builds. Hence, marking it as untriaged to get more inputs from dev team. Thanks...!!

I am marking this as Won't Fix to be honest about the prioritization. A user can click the checkbox themselves if that remembers the password for 365 days. We are currently working on other features and robustness issues that take a much higher priority. It is a nice idea but not trivial to implement in the current architecture. Just for the record: An even higher impact would be to remember the checkbox "I have read and accept the Terms of Service". |
