Speaker no longer works / recognised in Hangouts Meet

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.186 Safari/537.36
Platform: 10443.0.0 (Official Build) dev-channel guado

1. Set up a Hangout using Chromebox in Dev channel

What is the expected behavior?
That the speaker works

What went wrong?
No sound / device health reports unsupported speaker

Exactly the same behaviour happened on two different Chromeboxes at the same time and was noticed first thing this morning.
 
Having looked at this again, it seems as if the speaker is picked up as being connected by HDMI whereas the speaker/mic connected by USB is the one which should be detected (which was the case prior to the most recent update).
