Make default size of floating keyboard small |
||||||
Issue descriptionWe may want to make the initial size of floating keyboard smaller. Omri, how much do you want to shrink the default size? Please assign back to me once the default size is defined.

I think we decided to go with the size Yuqing had in her mocks - Any larger and we start to push one-handed reachability. The character keys in those mocks are 30dp wide by 42dp tall. In my mocks with a keyboard layout that's just a shrunken large VK, that translates to a floating VK ~370dp wide by ~225dp tall (including suggestion bar). I'm not confident that that's the layout Yuqing's going to want for the floating VK, however, so those sizes are liable to change.

In my understanding, we use 600dp for initial width of the floating VK. +wuyingbing: Could you ask Yuqing that whether current initial width is matched to her mocks or not? and could you change the initial width of the floating VK if it's not matched. I guess it's much easier to fix this in the extension side because the extension wants to have full control of the window size.

600dp is definitely too large, +1 on working with yuqing - goal is to have the stating point small enough so user can type with one finger.

On 70.0.3519.3 on my Pixelbook it still feels almost 50% too wide, and I have large hands. |
