Google Chrome 66.0.3353.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit) (cohort: Clang-64)
Steps to repro:
# Launch Chrome
# Press and release Alt
Expected/actual: focus lands on the Customize and Control menu (upper right corner). This was made due to a user request a long time ago.
# Press Alt + F
Expected: nothing happens because applications such as Google Docs should be ready to accept this keystroke
Actual: Customize and Control Menu opens
# Press esc to close the menu
# Press Alt + e
Menu opens, same expected as above
I did a review of all the keys on the keyboard after pressing and holding alt and saw the following some of which might be unexpected:
f and e: opens menu
d: puts focus on the omnibar
space: opens a Windows dialog for all of Chrome containing items like restore, maximize, minimize, task manager, close, etc.
left arrow: back
esc: Windows puts another application in focus
F4: close application
Home: home page loads
all other letters, punctuation, special keys: nothing happens
Note that some users may be used to using alt + f and there will need to be a review about educating users about fixing the bug behavior.
