[User Feedback - Stable]Incorrect Translations for New Site Mute Feature (Portuguese, Swedish) |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 64.0.3282.186 OS: Mac What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Use Chrome in Portuguese / Swedish. (2) Right-click on a new tab, look for the new site mute feature. (3) See an incorrect / misleading translation. This comes from user feedback reports. Please find the details below. Portuguese > "Mutar Site" was translated as "Ignorar Site" in Brazilian Portuguese. - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85099927100 - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85036849919 Swedish > "Mute website" is translated to "Dölj webbplats" where "Dölj" actually means hide, not mute. A better translation would be "Tysta webbplats" where "Tysta" translates to quiet/mute. - https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/84978664374 Attaching a screenshot (in English) for where to locate the text string in the UI. Thanks for taking a look!

Regarding the Swedish translation. The suggestion to translate "Mute site" to "Tysta webbplats" is a good standalone translation, but there will be no consistent translation to the "Unmute site" option. I would suggest the following translations instead: Mute Site (current translation "Dölj webbplats"): Stäng av ljud från webbplats Unmute Site (current translation "Visa webbplats"): Sätt på ljud från webbplats They are longer, but the translation will make more sense when you switch between the them.
