Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.167 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Boot the chrome book and enter the credentials to login 2. Connect HDMI/DP monitor and set the display mode as Extended mode 3. Enter Docked mode (single display HDMI/DP mode) Decrease brightness button/lid close(via ec console) What is the expected behavior? Display should be seen only on the HDMI/DP monitor and system should go to dock mode (Docked Mode Notification should be display) What went wrong? Docked mode notification fails to display but system going to Dock mode and observed only HDMI/DP as single display Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 65.0.3319.0 Channel: dev OS Version: Flash Version:

Testing with 66.0.3359.10 / 10452.1.0 I found that only the "dock mode" popup / notification is missing when lowering the brightness to zero, everything else behaves as expected.

I believe decreasing the internal display brightness to 0 is effectively equivalent to closing the lid. That's why it's going to docked mode. However on ToT we no longer show the Docked notification. I believe this is WAI. +oshima@ +derat@
