Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3354.0 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open an insecure origin, such as your router/modem control panel (192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, or similar). 2. Wait for a prompt requesting your username and password. What is the expected behavior? "Your connection to this site is not private" text is in red to grab your attention, and there is a red broken lock icon next to the URL. What went wrong? "Your connection to this site is not private" text is in subtle gray. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 66.0.3354.0 Channel: canary OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version: HTTP is dangerously bad.

Thanks for filing the issue! @Reporter: As ET team is not very sure about any URL/file which opens an insecure origin which results in a prompt requesting the username and password, could you please share a sample URL which helps us to triage the issue in a better way. Any further inputs from your end may help us.

Issue 544244 is where the "your connection to this site is not private" was added. There's some additional discussion there around improving the auth prompt. +meacer for consideration on whether this should be merged into issue 544244, or WontFixed if no further changes are likely soon since the warning text already exists.
