I don't think IDN display is to blame for this regression. It's a cross-platform change while two others are specific to Mac. 

Perhaps, the first one is most likely (but I don't even know what surface sync is ).

Giving him to ccarmeron@ to take a look at least.

"Add Speech to the Textfield Context Menu" should only affect Toolkit-View dialogs with textfields on Mac, so that's unlikely the cause
