Add ability to read .tgz files |
||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 63.0.3239.140 (copy from chrome://version) OS: Chromeos (e.g. Win7, OSX 10.9.5, etc...) What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Download .tgz file (2) Cannot read contents (3) What is the expected result? You should be able to read contents What happens instead? It states that there are no files in the folder Please use labels and text to provide additional information. I assume this is a limitation in Chromeos but is it possible to get the feature added? For graphics-related bugs, please copy/paste the contents of the about:gpu page at the end of this report.

This is a feature request for Chrome OS, isn't it? I have no idea who owns this, but it's not the infra team.

Maybe install the "Wicked Good Unarchiver" from the Chrome WebStore on your ChromeOS device? It add supports RAR/7z/CABISO/pax/tar to Files app. Double click your .tgz file in Files App, to uncompress the file and see its contained files.

soushi@ - I believe we should currently support .zip and .rar archive files. Prior to adding additional archive types, we're looking first to migrate our zip support off NaCl in 2019 so I don't anticipate we will expand archive support in the first half of the year at least. +amistry@ for visibility. |
