Medium VR memory regression in revision range 530874 - 530960

A medium-sized 8.0-8.5MB (~5.2%) memory regression occurred in the revision range 530874 - 530960 (85b9d0662601895ecb6b25977ce3117725d0d525 - ba4a9fd61fd8c8bfd98c3050e70f6d4f114e0cf2).
