Remote side video is hanged when there is a long apprtc call [~15 hours] |
|||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 65.0.3325.65 / 10323.30.0 OS: Chrome OS What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Create a peer-peer call between a chrome book and a chrome box https://appr.tc/ [Candy and Panther] (2) Let the ongoing call active for long period (in my case it was more than 15 hours) What is the expected result? Video of the remote call works fine. Video quality on either side should free from glitches. What happens instead? Remote side video is hanged in both the devices (Panther and candy). The call is still live but the video of the remote side is hanged. For example: Video of chromebox in chrome book is hanged and vice versa. The local video on both these devices still continue to work. I will reproduce again and update it with the latest logs. Since this hang is observed in both chrome book and Chrome box. This is likely reproducible in other chrome devices. This issue is found while reproducing this bug : https://bugs.chromium.org/p/webrtc/issues/detail?id=8749

Not sure we can fix this since it was the turn server that disconnected. The turn credentials expire after 24 hours (you can see this in the lifetimeduration property of the turn server network request) but I wonder if the server side has some session limit.

FYI, I repeated the same test on Candy and Panther today. I have reproduced this hang in 3 hours exactly. (12.30 - 15.30) Maybe this could be the situation yesterday too. I started the call before I leave office yesterday and saw the hang today morning. New Logs: https://pantheon.corp.google.com/storage/browser/chromiumos-test-logs/bugfiles/cr/814290/Feb%2021/

It does not actually hang, if you look at the javascript logs you can see that ICE enters a disconnected state which indicates the media connection has been dropped and AppRTC displays the last received video frame.

Thanks for correcting me. Yes that makes more sense than hangs :-)

jansson: So does this seem to be an issue with the AppRTC service, rather than the devices?

Yeah something is causing the connections to drop however I do not have enough cycles to investigate this but I think this should be moved to github instead. Vasan, could you file a new issue on github for the apprtc project?
