Tracing collects the data from all the tabs. Web developers are often mostly concerned about specific tabs/processes though. Why? Because less information that is simply confusing and some tracing runs simply hit a resource limit very fast if multiple tabs are open. That was one feedback from our memory roadshow.

It would be grant if one could optionally select a tab/process that he wants to run tracing with.
