Are there any errors in the DevTools console when it is not working?

13hurdw@ Thanks for the issue. Tested this issue on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 14.04 on the latest Chromium build 66.0.3326.0 and the reported version 64.0.3282.140 and unable to reproduce the issue by following the given steps. On navigating to chrome://settings and clicking on Make Default button, Chromium is set as the default browser. Attached is the screen cast for reference. Request you to retry the issue on new chromium profile without any flags/extensions and update the thread with the observations. Also request you to respond to comment #2 asked by the Dev. Thanks..

No new errors in Console when the button is clicked. Same behaviour on a temporary profile; it took about four clicks of the button for it to finally show set to default. I don't think the profile matters anyway since this seems to be a system-wide application setting. What's strange is the browser was set to default, but randomly reports "Chromium isn't your default browser" sometimes after opening, even though chromium-browser is still set to default in system settings. Output of update-alternatives when Chromium reports it is not default browser: update-alternatives --display x-www-browser x-www-browser - auto mode link best version is /usr/bin/chromium-browser link currently points to /usr/bin/chromium-browser link x-www-browser is /usr/bin/x-www-browser /usr/bin/chromium-browser - priority 40 /usr/bin/firefox - priority 40

As we are unable to reproduce the issue from our end i.e., in the very first click on the button "make default browser" in chrome://settings allows us to make that change instantly instead of clicking it for 3-4 times(...as mentioned in comment#5) and we are unable to see any errors in DevTools->Console, hence adding label "TE-NeedsTriageHelp" and requesting someone from UI>Settings team to have a look into it and help in further triaging the issue. Thanks! |
