To clarify the bug reporter's repro steps: Step 1 is in Gmail, which can preview documents inline using the Google Drive web PDF viewer. Step 2 is in the inline document preview inside Gmail. Step 3 involves the PDF generate by Google Drive. This is expected behavior. Since the PDF saved in step 4 is one generated by Google Drive in step 3, it is designed to be printed and will automatically pop-up the print dialog upon opening. If you want to save the original document, use the download button next to the print button in step 2. If you don't like this behavior and want it changed, please consider asking on the Google Drive Help Forum. [1] This is not something that the Google Chrome browser can fix.
