This happens when creating a zip file of a Google Drive hosted document on Drive folder. (i.e. You'd need to use M66 or set flag #enable-zip-archiver-packer to have "Zip Selection" in the context menu there.) So this will not happen in M65.

The expected is the zip file should contain a text file with the JSON text pointing to the Drive entry. However, that conversion didn't at file read operation by the extension and resulted in a 0-byte file.

For contrast, this way will work correctly.
(1) Copy a Google Docs file to Downloads.
(2) Zip the file in Downloads.
(3) Open the zip file.

@yamaguchi, I performed the steps mentioned in #1 and still unable to open Google Docs file.

- What does "unable to open" mean? { browser window opened but keeps blank with some URL, no response at all, error message, cannot see the docs filename in the zip, etc. }
- What were the file size of the original docs file, the zip file and the Docs file in it, in the both cases?

In first case, I tried opening a gdoc file. Original gdoc size was 171 bytes, zip file size 141MB, and gdoc size in it was 171 bytes.

In second case, I tried opening a gsheet file. Original file size was 175 bytes, zip file size 763KB, and gsheet size in it was 175 bytes.

In both the cases, google docs opened up browser window in blank white background with some URL and resource id information in it. Please refer the attachment.

In case of zip file being created in Gdrive folder with google docs in it, their file size is shown as 0 bytes. Opening such a doc file from zip archive loads browser window with blank white background.

Filed  Issue 812930  as a separate bug because it also happens before changing the zipping extension, if the zip file is made as described specifically.

 Issue 812930  has been merged into this issue.

Zipping hosted docs isn't supported in DriveFS so this shouldn't be a problem.
