Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.140 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/icce-core/loac/ippin/pages/ippin.xhtml Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Access IRS Online Services Account Activation (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/online-services-account-activation) I tried to use when I requested an account activation code by mail 2. Log in with the username and password [not done] I created 3. Enter the activation code provided in your CP301 notice [Not done] What is the expected behavior? Anything but without red nagging "error" prompt. What went wrong? Abot-in Filipino-I doesn't know what heck the matter with Chrome. I have not entered any data. It happened before in 2014 and two weeks ago with "Get IRS Transcript (https://sa.www4.irs.gov/icce-core/load/gettrans/pages/availableTranscripts.xhtml)." Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes Is it a problem with a plugin? No Did this work before? No Does this work in other browsers? Yes Chrome version: 64.0.3282.140 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: It happened before 2 weeks ago when I attempted to get my PIN from IRS. After errors to login, IRS locked me down. So I went through whole process by paper mail to reactivate. Today, having too much prompt for scolding I enter the wrong username (even IRS emailed me I had the right one), I decided to go and finish my request in Firefox.

My guess: Chrome autofilled the entry but the id or password was incorrect so you get the message. Maybe verify that you don't have any passwords already for this site by checking in chrome://settings/passwords.

Since the site is hyper-sensitive, e.g. financial like this case the IRS, I elected not to store username/password in any browser but password manager. They have not autofill, either.

Thanks for filing the issue! Checked the issue on reported chrome version 64.0.3282.140 and on the latest canary 66.0.3347.0 using windows 10 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Launched Chrome 2. Navigated to https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/icce-core/loac/ippin/pages/ippin.xhtml We didn't observe any error message after navigating to that site. Attaching the screen shot of the same. @Reporter: Could you please check the screen shot and let us know if anything missed from our end. It would be very helpful if mentioned whether we need to create an account before navigating it to the link given. Any further inputs from your end helps us to triage the issue in a better way.
