Eve wont wake external display when waking from sleep |
|||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 63.0.3239.140 (Official Build) (64-bit) OS: 10032.86.0 (Official Build) stable-channel eve What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Connect external display (via pluggable dock) (2) Put device to sleep either by waiting or hitting search+shift+l (3) Wake by tapping any key What is the expected result? Everything should wake. What happens instead? The external display does not wake. The device THINKS the display is working. You can move the mouse there, etc. but it wont turn on or show an image. See https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85010047170 Unplugging and replugging the USB-C cable corrects the problem Marking P1 since this is 100% repro for me. I could not repro this on ToT build. These logs look similar to what happens in issue 789292 where changing display mode, or plugging/unplugging displays may trigger a crash: [1363:1379:0201/124242.253070:ERROR:gbm_buffer.cc(72)] : AddFramebuffer2 failed: Invalid argument (22) [1363:1379:0201/124242.253130:ERROR:gbm_buffer.cc(79)] : AddFramebuffer2 failed: Invalid argument (22)

Hi, I have almost exactly the same problem, except unplugging/plugging the cable does not fix it (might be due to having a different monitor model). I normally use my pixelbook with the lid closed, USB-C cable connected to a single 27" Google monitor (https://mystuff.corp.google.com/stuff/items/1431), mouse and external keyboard themselves connected to the monitor. Anytime the pixelbook locks (for example if I go to a meeting and then come back and plug it in), upon hitting any key the mouse and keyboard start working immediately but no image comes on unless I power the monitor down and then back up, sometimes multiple times. Opening the lid and unlocking in this way is not enough either, still no image comes on the external monitor.

Re #6, I still found the similar log to issue 789292 as mentioned in #4, but the bug should have been fixed in M66. Did you perform the same steps as in the description to trigger this issue?

Have the same issue with LG 27UK850-W. After waking up the popup notification informs about the display being removed but it still charges the Pixelbook and mouse plugged into the monitor works fine (wakes the Pixelbook from sleep actually). Have to turn off the monitor via the on screen menu and wake it up again for the Pixelbook to notice it. Don't have this problem on HP Chromebook X2 for example. If there's any way I can help with this issue, please, let me know...
