Padlock sometimes not displayed on HTTPS site |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionDevice name:S7 From "Settings > About Chrome" Application version:66.0.3334.0 canary Operating system: 7 Steps to reproduce: (1)open https url Expected result: padlock for correct https url Actual result: random issue, sometimes padlock is not shown at all, sometimes for the same site visible after refreshing page or restarting browser. I suspect condition race, issue visible with last Canary builds (where we observe new themes interface support)

Isn't padlock hidden/shown in new places ? Well, if I will know how to debug it I will do it... But I need hints. It could be potentially network, but like I have written above it started to happening in last few days and it can be after last changes.

The security icon shouldn't have changed. Can you try on a local build? LocationBarLayout has the code that determines whether the icon is shown: https://codesearch.chromium.org/chromium/src/chrome/android/java/src/org/chromium/chrome/browser/omnibox/LocationBarLayout.java?q=locationbarlayout&sq=package:chromium&dr=CSs&l=115

I couldn't repro this either on canary on an S6. What sort of frequency are you seeing this at? Does it fluctuate on refreshes?

I had it few times in days, when it was reported. Later at least once. Now I don't see it. AFAIR, refreshes didn't help in all cases - sometimes browser restart was required.

Today again with wykop.pl, interesting thing: 1. I opened site (no padlock) 2. clicked omnibox (list of suggestions displayed, edit mode) 3. pressed hardware back button (exit from edit mode) and padlock was displayed without tab reloading 66.0.3350.0

This typically indicates that the page security state is somehow getting lost; we've fixed a number of issues like that one in the last year. Getting a solid set of reproduction steps is our only real hope of fixing this. Curious: How did you get the "Home" icon into your toolbar?

I'm not able to repro the final result from #6 on 67.0.3379.0 (Canary). The site wykop.pl has passive mixed content (perhaps only sometimes?) which downgrades the indicator to neutral (no lock). But I can't reproduce interacting with the omnibox having any effect on the security indicator icon. Without being able to reproduce this (perhaps it was a transient issue in M66 Canary that has been resolved?), we'll probably have to close this. Reporter: Are you still able to reproduce this on your device?

I'm also curious if this is stock Chrome? The home icon in the toolbar is unfamiliar.

comment to #9: yes, it is and you enable/disable this icon in Settings/Home page

I think without solid repro steps we have to just close this. Also, I'm unsure about the home button as well - I have no Settings/Home settings on my Chrome (version 67 dev channel) OP: if you do get repro steps please let us know. |
