Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.52 Safari/537.36 Example URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km9K_BPc2RU Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km9K_BPc2RU 2. chrome only uses CPU when my video card can hardware-decode 4K H.264 videos 3. What is the expected behavior? chrome should use my video card and smoothly play the video What went wrong? i think chrome detects a vertical 4K video as a 8K video because its height is 3840. my card can hardware-decode H.264 up to 4K and VP9 up to 8K, so chrome can hardware-decode a vertical 4K VP9 video just fine but it falls back to software-decoding when it sees a vertical 4K H.264 video and decides it is out of spec. H264 is most affected since VP9 gets 4K portrait support by virtue of supporting 8K decoding. This cl also adds 8K portrait mode support for VP9. Chrome can now hardware-decode a vertical 4K H.264 video for sure. But, it can't do a landscape 4K H.264 video now, not even 1440p. And it can not hardware-deocde 8k VP9 video. What is happening? I see this in chrome://gpu Decode h264 baseline up to 2160x3840 pixels Decode h264 main up to 2160x3840 pixels Decode h264 high up to 2160x3840 pixels Decode vp8 up to 4320x7680 pixels Decode vp9 profile0 up to 4320x7680 pixels Decode vp9 profile1 up to 4320x7680 pixels Decode vp9 profile2 up to 4320x7680 pixels Decode vp9 profile3 up to 4320x7680 pixels Did you just swap maxium widths and heights?

Ah crap, that code is picking a max x,y value instead of generating supported profiles. Will fix; this explains issue 808094 .

This reverts commit 2d7795feddd36cd2c909551ee071c58dd8871fa4. Reason for revert: DXVA resolution checks are for explicit w:h pairs, adding portrait prevents landscape from working... This needs to be reworked to return multiple supported profiles. The following revision refers to this bug: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src.git/+/01a93808a15a70e6bbb0ee5fb80d53e4bd7e8543 commit 01a93808a15a70e6bbb0ee5fb80d53e4bd7e8543 Author: Dale Curtis <dalecurtis@chromium.org> Date: Thu Feb 08 20:34:55 2018 Insert a SupportedProfile for landscape and portrait DXVA maximums. http://crrev.com/532710 incorrectly combined the maximum landscape and maximum portrait hardware decode resolutions into a single SupportedProfile; this does not work because landscape videos will fail the portrait resolution maximum on width. The solution is to compute first the landscape maximum and then test the flipped variant for support. If it's supported will generate two SupportedProfiles entries. One for landscape and one for portrait; this may exclude some cases where a lower portrait resolution is supported, but seems fine for now. BUG= 806568 TEST=portrait and landscape decoding uses GpuVideoDecoder.
