Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3282.119 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: In line with a change that was made in version 64 (I can't seem to find the bug number), currently the squiggly red underline that appears underneath misspelled text covers a portion of lower case q,y,p,g and j. This should be changed for the same reasons this change was made for underlined text in version 64 What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? 2 screenshots attached. 1 showing the squiggly red underline issue, and the other an example of how v64 handles underlined text that includes characters such as lower case q,y,p,g and j Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 64.0.3282.119 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version:

This seems to be a feature request. Hence, marking it as untriaged for further inputs fron dev team. Thanks...!!

I don't know if this is a feature request - it looks like there were some changes to how Underlines look in M64. We've seen about 15 user reports that the underline is "Disrupted" since the 64 rollout.

This could be related to changes in bug 777428 . Possible Related Discussion: https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!msg/blink-dev/47BHtmz0jVY/itAC_xpwBgAJ

billdillensrevenge@ Thanks for the issue. Able to reproduce this issue on latest Stable 64.0.3282.140 and Canary 66.0.3340.0 on Windows 10, Mac OS and Ubuntu 14.04. Can observe the red underline on a misspelled word overlapping the lower case letters j,q,y,p,g. This behavior is seen from M-60 Chrome builds and the same behavior is observed on M-64 builds. Attached is the screen shots for reference. Thanks..

just wondering, are there any other scenarios where there is some kind of underline under text? The only one I know of is this squiggly red underline when a word is misspelled

Yes, lots of underlines. Links (anchor tags) are the prime example but any text can be styled with underlines of various kinds.

so shouldn't this be extended to all types and instances of underlined text?

and maybe something should be done about crossed out text too, such as making the cross out a different color and placing it behind the text instead of on top of it
