Project Member Reported by khmel@chromium.org, Jan 25 2018

Issue description

Chrome Version: (M62-M65)
OS: CrOS, Eve, Caroline

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open Google page
(2) Type calc in search line
(3) In the shown calc widget click on buttons using touchscreen
(4) In the shown calc widget click on buttons using touchpad

What is the expected result?
3,4 should produce digits in calc.
3 works as expected.

What happens instead?

Note, mouse clicks on browser version do work.

Looks bit weird.

Please triage.

Not sure if this is on the OS side or something in Chrome or the app?

Issue 795901 has been merged into this issue.
Usually, when we see behavior like this it's the result of the page doing something incorrect with touch detection. I've been trying to find the right component internally to file a bug against.

I can repro on Linux 65.0.3325.18. Taking a closer look now...

It's also broken in Stable 64.0.3282.119 and Firefox. Interestingly it works in Edge and Chrome Windows both Stable and Canary (at least via RDP).

Ya usually this is touchscreend detection...

See issue b/70601361

Yep, it's because the calculator button has a logic:
if (touchscreen)
  add touch event listener
else
  and mouse event listener

It's broken in any browser with touch screen because (hasTouch) working great....Not sure via the RDP..

RDP is almost certainly not plumbing the touchscreen information across.
