Pixelbook Desktop Mode

Reported by tri...@gmail.com, Jan 24 2018

Issue description

FEATURE REQUEST:

A Chromebook such as the 2017 Pixelbook would benefit from a new mode of operation called Desktop Mode. In this mode, the Pixelbook hardware would be opened/folded back 360 degrees (fully in tablet mode) and it would be laid screen side down on a desk with an external monitor attached via USB-C. Assuming the Pixelbook would detect it's face down orientation, 360 degree fold, and external monitor attached, it would enter this new mode. In desktop mode, the keyboard and trackpad would again become active and the screen would turn off. The Pixelbook hardware in essence would become a mouse/keyboard combination driving one or more external monitors.

Note: if a user could use a Pixelbook as a desktop machine like this, buying both a Chromebox and Chromebook would become superfluous as only the Chromebook would be needed.
