Chrome opens settings in DevTools window |

Issue descriptionChrome Version: 66.0.3329.1 OS: macOS 10.13 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Open DevTools and undock it into a separate window. (2) Make sure the DevTools window is focused. (3) Open Chrome > Settings What is the expected result? Settings open in a new tab. What happens instead? Settings open in DevTools window, and you have to close the DevTools window to get DevTools back. (right click > inspect focuses DevTools window, but it will still show settings page). This does not happen in stable (63.0.3239.132)

Sorry, after trying it again I cannot reproduce this. Opening Chrome > Settings via the '3-dot' button in Chrome always opens in a new tab, unless I start on the chrome://newtab page. Tested on Mac 66.0.3329.0 and 66.0.3338.0. Could you please check if this still occurs when you start on a url other than the new tab page ?

Thanks! I'm also unable to reproduce this in 66.0.3340.0. However, it still occurs in https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src.git/+/23f7ac0ae187feb62913b7dc793a8721a0d37e07, so it looks like this was fixed in the last week.

Yeah, especially on Canary channel, bugs can pop up and disappear in a short period. But we still appreciate those who file early Canary bugs! |
