I don't think that is the bug in Chrome. It doesn't work for example in Edge either. Let me know if you have a video or instructions of the working situation so we can compare.
Status: WontFix (was: Untriaged)
Closing this as there wasn't any feedback and the issue doesn't seem to be with Chrome.
Status: Unconfirmed (was: WontFix)
I hadn't seen your earlier comment. I can long-press a youtube video in Edge and select 'open in new tab' just fine. In Chrome I still can't, when I release after the long-press it just opens the video in the same tab, no context menu shown.

If it's OK I'd like to change it back to 'Unconfirmed'. Can you double check that for you it does work in Chrome?

Nope. I don't seem to be able to open the context menu in Chrome. But I'm not able to open it on Edge or Firefox either. As a matter of fact when I long press on a video on Edge and release it opens the video in the same tab and then also opens a context menu which is a weird behavior. I still believe something is not correctly handled within youtube.
Cc'ing Ziling from Youtube in case he knows more about this issue.

Just to make 100% sure, you're definitely testing this with a touch screen, with long-press meaning 'hold your finger on the screen for about a second, then release'? That's the scenario where I run into the issue with Chrome (and not with Edge).

In case it's relevant, I'm doing this on an X1 Yoga 3rd gen with touch screen, running Windows 10 Pro.
I tried to repro this on a the pixelbook2 and was able to open the context menu and in a new tab.

Chrome 69.0.3497.21
zhaoz@ the issue happens on Windows.
I tested on a surface pro running Win10 and yes I did the same action.
Thanks, so for now the inconsistency is that for me it does work properly in Edge, while it doesn't work in Chrome. For you it doesn't work in either browser. Odd. I'll check on my SP4 when I have access to it on Monday. Either way, it would be great of the YouTube team or the Chrome team could fix this.

zhaoz@ could you try this on a Win 10 touch screen laptop and see whether you can open context menu on Edge or Chrome?
One more observation. Reproducing this on my Surface Pro 4 I see that both on Chrome and on Edge the youtube video thumbnail dims upon press. But: in Edge the thumbnail stays dimmed until touch is released, whereas on Chrome the thumbnail brightens again in under a second.
