Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1.Open chrome, ok to all defaults, enter kl.fi and browse the page + select news links 2.Easy to get “Helaas”, sorry in Dutch when browsing through news and scrolling through the text, within 1-2 news pages 3.Disable background data saver from phone settings UI 4.browse new pages. 5.Still getting “Helaas”, sorry in Dutch when browsing through news and scrolling through the text, within 1-2 news pages So, no solution if swiching off background data saver. Browser itself is very active on foreground (but background process could always be handled incorrectly). 6.Re-enable BG data saver 7.Disable Chrome data saver 8.browse new pages 9.NO ISSUES seen. What is the expected behavior? Chrome's data saver is a different setting than system's Settings. can we set the data saver in Chrome to off by default? What went wrong? It means that actually we are not using any proxy but it is restriction on device data usage policy. obviously this has a big negative side effects if even Chrome is not able to manage that correctly and freezes on some web pages, as we recognized in our testing. Did this work before? N/A Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 63.0.3239.111 Channel: stable OS Version: O Go Flash Version:

@weiya: When the data saver is enabled, are you unable to browse http:// websites, https:// websites or both? It would also be super-useful if you can get us a NetLog from Chrome. Here are the steps for capturing the NetLog: https://dev.chromium.org/for-testers/providing-network-details

b/72198592 has some additional details on this, but it seems that this issue has been resolved. Closing as WontFix since this is not reproducible. |
