I have made somo modifications to ensure that chromiun-snapshot have a equal report like the chromiun-unstable 65.0.3315.3 that don't have this behavior: the new chrome://gpu list is below. Chromium builds don't have proprietary codecs included because they are not covered by the Chrome license for h264 and aac.

There's no workaround for Chromium unless you custom build with 'proprietary_codecs=true ffmpeg_branding="Chrome"' but you should only do this if you have appropriate licensing. If you instead are accidentally using Chromium, then the workaround is to use an official Google Chrome build from here https://www.google.com/chrome/

Why not use OpenH264 and Fraunhoffer FDK AAC or FFmpeg open source codecs instead? Because if someone decide to use proprietary codecs compile their own version and the open it's used as free. |
