This is on dev channel (M65). I have a trace recorded on chrome://tracing. When I click Save, I get prompted for a filename.

No matter what I enter (including nothing), it always saves a file named with a GUID and no extension. The file's contents are indeed gzipped JSON, so it's just the filename that's busted.
