Confusing tabs in “Network” section of web inspector

Issue descriptionChrome Version : Google Chrome 63.0.3239.132 (Official Build) (64-bit) OS version : 10.13.2 (17C88) The tabs in the “Network” section of the web inspector are confusing for two reasons: * The Headers tab includes the form data and/or request body. This is confusing, because neither the form data nor the request body is part of the headers. * The Preview tab shows the preview of the Response. This is confusing, because the tab next to the Preview tab is the Response tab, and it’s counterintuitive that the Preview tab shows the response preview. * * * Naïve suggestion for fixing this confusion: * Rename “Headers” to “Headers and request body” * Rename “Preview” to “Response preview”

We don’t want to give the tabs long names since it would make the toolbar too long which is already an issue with other toolbars in devtools, so I added a tooltip to each tab which should help with the confusion

Able to reproduce this issue on Mac OS 10.14.0, Ubuntu 17.10 and Windows 10 on the reported version 63.0.3239.132 and the issue is fixed on the latest M-72 build 72.0.3621.0. 1. Launched Chrome and opened Dev tools 2. Howard on Headers and Preview and observed tooltips on Headers>>Headers and request body and on Preview>> Response preview Attached is the screencast for reference. Hence adding TE verified labels as the fix is working as intended. Thanks..! |
