# Enable ChromeVox on Chrome OS
# Navigate to https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subscript_and_superscript
# Navigate to the two examples on the page, N2 and 25.
# Listen to output. The number and its sub/super script are separated in the linear navigation order so you need to press search + arrow twice to read the combination.
Expected: some way to note super and subscripts
Actual: read as normal text, don't split in the linear navigation order
This example was submitted by an educator end user:
Ca3(PO4)2 is being read "ca 3 P O 4 2" instead of "C A subscript 3 parenthesis P O subscript 4 parenthesis subscript 2".
More details from the user:
I tried changing the Punctuation Echo, but that didn't help.
Could it use a different voice to denote the subscript or superscript, as it does with capitals? Or could it be useful to have another mode, like science or mathematics mode, that would read everything as it was and not try to create words out of the letters?
The goal is to get the student completely independent, and its interesting how little things like this keep the need for my intervention more prevalent.
