I've never used chrome://apps to get to mail, only Gmail.com

Thanks! A few more questions that would help us understand this further: - Can you please paste the exact URL at which GMail hangs? (presumably gmail.com redirects to something like https://mail.google.com/mail/...) - What title does Chrome's task manager (shift-esc) show for Gmail, with and without strict site isolation? Does it show an "App:" prefix for one of them by any chance? - If you open DevTools (F12), does that show any errors when Gmail fails to load?

The URL of the hang is https://mail.google.com/mail/ca/u/0/#inbox Dev panel console screenshot attached, yes there are a number of errors. With site isolation enabled the task manager shows App:// NolaFlash Mail Without it shows App: Inbox (32,198) - designs@nolaflash.com - NolaFlash Mail

Thanks for the info! If you remove the "/ca" from the path and go to just "https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox", does gmail load? That might be a temporary workaround. These are the same symptoms as in issue 799312 , though it seems you're getting to the Gmail App URL without going through chrome://apps. Are you just typing "gmail.com" or "mail.google.com" into the omnibox, getting there via a bookmark, or some other way? FWIW, this should already be fixed on Chrome Beta (M64).

That does solve it! Thank you. I have a bookmark in my bar that I almost always use and it was set to https://mail.google.com/mail/ca/u/0/#inbox When /ca is pulled it works fine. Really appreciate the help! You rock!

Unable to reproduce the issue on Win-10 using chrome reported version #63.0.3239.132 and latest canary #65.0.3316.0. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Enabled Strict Site Isolation via chrome://flags/#enable-site-per-process 2. Opened Gmail 3. Observed that gmail rendered without any issues. The workaround provided at comment #6 seems to work for the user at comment #7. Hence, requesting alexmos@ to please have a look into the issue. Thanks...!!

I'll merge this to issue 799312 , since the underlying issue is the same whether you get to gmail via chrome://apps (799312) or via a bookmark that contains the chrome app URL (as was the case here). This should be fixed on M64, and there's a workaround from #6 for M63. |
