Issue descriptionYou like all companies will find a way to f up a good thing. I do not want any of my bookmarks showing in my url and there is no way to stop this from showing in browser. I type www, and suggestions from previous bookmarks appears. This is very annoying. What if someone else uses my android? Children for example. This js a very bad addition and the person that duggested and the person that approvec it should be fired. Add an update now so that bookmarks can be turned off. When I type www into the chrome browser, I do not want anything appearing. You have gone too far. Now end this with an update.

If you want nothing to appear after you type www, turn off the "Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" setting in the Advanced section of your Chrome settings (select "Settings" in the menu or enter "chrome://settings" in the omnibox). Turning off only bookmark suggestions is not possible but would not help anyway because those sites will still be suggested if you've ever visited them. The "prediction service" setting will prevent any URLs from appearing.

Sorry, correction. The "prediction service" is a privacy setting that will disable suggestions from your default search provider (in order to prevent sending data to the search provider's servers). Suggestions from your bookmarks and local browsing/search history will still be offered even if that setting is disabled. If you wish to have another person use your device and not have access to your bookmarks or browsing history, the best approach is to create another profile (either a Chrome profile or an Android system user). Preventing bookmarks from appearing as suggestions is an ineffective way of hiding that data given that it can be seen with just a couple clicks/touches anyway). |
